Surgeon Ignored Serious Infection
General Surgery
November 11, 2024
Following surgery I developed a Serious Infection. I was seen by my GP, Urgent Care, SAU, and various Consultants, Registrars and Nurses throughout my admission to hospital which included 4 lots of IV antibiotics a day for 5 days. The only person who kept telling me on repeat that I was fit to go home - when I clearly wasn't - was my Surgeon.
Breast Care Team Communication
General Surgery
November 11, 2024
Due to the Consultant not paying attention to my Estrogen marker results, or reviewing my risk factors I was put on medication that made me really unwell and negatively affected my quality of life for over a year unnecessarily. Had the correct information been discussed with me at the time, I never would have agreed to the treatment that reduces my risk by 1% at 10 years and 0% by 15 years.
Cancer Patient 5 Hour Wait in Urgent Care
Accident and emergency services
November 11, 2024
Following breast cancer surgery I developed an infection and went to Urgent Care as my wound was spurting out blood and pus. I was kept waiting for 5 hours to be seen. I bled through everything I was wearing and the nurse ran out of gangee pads. Within a nanosecond of the Dr seeing the problem he referred me to SAU at RPH.

My daughter got referred to the rapid eye assessment after attending the opticians. Seen and all tests completed within an hour thankfully no problems found
They have been great with me
August 20, 2024
I struggle with my long term condition and they have referred me for different tests across the county in order to try and find out what is going on. I have had great communication from them about the issues and they are continuing to look at what is happening to me. Im just unsure where to go next as it feels like they are taking their time with the diagnosis and I want to know who to contact in order to get an update I have a number for the department but is there anywhere else I could go to for information?
cancer care is incredible
July 29, 2024
i had an operation at Chorley Hospital as i had breast cancer and had to have it removed. the specialist was incredible and the surgery was amazing. the nurses on the ward couldn't be more supportive and couldn't do enough for me. the care was impeccable. i also got a care package when i left the hospital and i found this absolutely incredible.
Travel difficulties
June 5, 2024
I've got an appointment next week at chorley hospital and before I've even got there im worried about parking and travel. I've been before and was unable to park so its really put me off parking. I've come here today to see where the nearest bus stop is to avoid driving there. its stress i don't need before I've even got to my appointment.
xray department concerns
April 5, 2024
I went with a relative to the Xray department at chorley hospital on Tuesday 2nd April about 11:20am and the reception team were very rude. my relative said hello I've been asked to come down for an Xray by my doctor and the receptionist snapped back and said 'you mean gp?' then proceeded to shout what's your name then told her to sit down. We sat down in the waiting area and witnessed a gentleman entering the room. He went to the reception desk and said he had an appointment. The receptionist was incredibly rude to him and shouted what's your name, he dropped his walking stick and the lady behind reception didnt seem to bother and proceeded to shout at the gentleman saying have you come to the right place. He stumbled to get his letter out of his pocket to hand to the lady. She responded with 'im not touching that, i wont touch that letter just hold it up so i can see it." The man held up the letter and she just kept shouting i cant see it hold it closer. the man was clearly distressed and this didnt help matters. She then said your in the wrong place its the next reception. He said oh im sorry ill go next door. He then tried to pick up his walking stick whilst the receptionist began shouting for the next person. But the next person couldn't get to reception as they were waiting for the man to get his walking stick. I feel this could have been an avoidable situation and i feel the receptionist shouldn't be speaking with patients in this manner.
Its a shame because the care my relative received from the staff doing the x-rays was amazing and they were very caring and helpful.

Wait times are very good

i went to chorley hospital to talk with my consultant about a knee replacement, they were lovely with me. I was also shocked that i was given an appointment 2 months later, with all the talk about referrals lately i expected to be waiting a year.
