Why Volunteer With Us?
Did you know 60% of adults reported that they had volunteered at least once in the last year and 34% have done so at least once a month. That means over 15.2 million people volunteer at least once a month in the UK and this contributes an estimated £22.6bn to the UK economy. Behind these big numbers is a big contribution, from people just like you!
These 15 million people, including Healthwatch Lancashire’s 40 volunteers, are a shining example of how we can all make a big difference to individuals and communities every day from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support. We believe such a big contribution is worth a big celebration.
What it’s like to volunteer with Healthwatch
“It is a professional organisation, well run, where my input is valued. I’ve been made to feel very welcome and a real part of the team. I can choose which activities to take part in so I can fit it around what else I am doing.”
“I work with a great team of both paid staff and volunteers. Everyone is very friendly and approachable. I have visited some very interesting health and social care establishments. I love meeting some of the service users, it reminds you of the importance of listening to those who use services.”
“I get a chance to pass on the patients’ views in a structured way and I feel people have a chance to be listened to.”
“The engagement activities are varied and worthwhile. I make a flexible commitment doing as much or as little as I want and always feel my time volunteering is appreciated by Healthwatch Lancashire.”
Healthwatch Lancashire is looking for more volunteers who are willing to listen to people’s views about health and social care in Lancashire.
