Lack of GP appearance
I booked an early GP appointment for 9am as I needed to get to work as soon as I could afterwards and was being picked up from the practice by a colleague. I arrived at 8.40 and was left waiting outside in the freezing cold despite the reception staff being in and the connected pharmacy being open. I was eventually let in at 8.55 and I waited. At 9.20 Dr Hussain had still not even arrived at the practice. I was fed mis-information by reception staff who first told me he should arrive any moment, then that he might be dealing with an emergency and when challenged that I knew that they did not provide an out of hours service and instead this was provided by primary care at RPH I was just offered the option of another appointment for the same time the following week. This is not the first time this has happened as my partner is also registered at the practice and the earliest they have been seen is 9.15 for an allegedly 9.00 appointment. Also a look on NHS Choices will further evidence Dr Hussain's poor timekeeping! Improvements could include Dr Hussain actually arriving on time to see his first patient! Reception staff being honest that they don't know where he is or how long he is likely to be. Alternatively don't offer 9am appointments if he is unlikely to arrive anyway and instead run an evening or Saturday morning surgery so us working folk don't have to take time off in the first place. I now have to take another 2 hours off work this week to repeat the process!
