Learning about Soroptimist International

March 6, 2023

Healthwatch Lancashire Senior Engagement Officer Sue Edwards met with the Soroptimist International Lancaster group on February 23rd and gave a presentation on Healthwatch and its role within the health and social care sector.

Soroptimist International is a volunteer women’s organisation working to improve the lives of women and girls with an aim to improve their status, position and role in society where they are currently unequal or disadvantaged, both nationally and internationally.

Sue gave a presentation on the role Healthwatch Lancashire plays within the community and there was great discussion around the structuring of the NHS, access to dentists, and local GPs; as well as electronic patient records and how these are used and kept safe.

Healthwatch Lancashire would like to extend their thanks for such a lovely welcome and for the sharing of experiences by the group; and a special thanks to Hilary Blease for organising the event, and who can be seen in the photograph with Sue. We look forward to working with Soroptimist International Lancaster going forward, to ensure the voices of women and girls are heard.
