Healthwatch Lancashire goes live!

May 19, 2023

On Thursday 18 May, our Engagement Team Leader Steve and Communications Team leader Georgia made an appearance on the local community radio station Pendle Community Radio (Awaz 103.1FM) on their Aap Ki Sehat show (health show) with Shakil Salam. Pendle Community Radio is a community radio station based in Nelson and is ran by members of the local community. It hosts a wide range of shows celebrating culture, sharing information and the promotion of health and wellbeing.

It was a fantastic opportunity to talk with the host, Shakil Salam about the work that Healthwatch Lancashire does. He is a very active member of the community promoting the Bowel screening programme and many other community-based events.

We talked about the role of Healthwatch Lancashire within the community and how we work to champion the views and experiences of people regarding health and social care. This was a great opportunity to share the different ways which members of the public can share their views with us, including the Feedback Centre, over the phone and in person events.

Shakil asked us how we use the feedback from members of the public to highlight people’s challenges and experiences and help to influence change. We explained how we can pass information on to relevant stakeholders, NHS leaders and decision makers who have the power to introduce change.

Part of the interview concentrated on our project work and how people can get involved in our current project: Waiting for Wellness. This project is exploring people’s experiences of mental health and the support available in Lancashire.

It was a terrific opportunity to reach a wide audience and promote Healthwatch Lancashire, providing them with details of how we can help and empowering people to share their views to contribute to change.
