Children's a&e experience
A&E, ward 24.
December 17, 2024
i took my child to RPH a&e as they had a query dislocated hip and i had to take him myself as they told me the ambulance would be 3 hour wait. we got there and got morphine in them quite quickly but communication between staff was poor. we were taken to xray and they kept asking em to straighten him when they couldnt move. i told them it was dangerous to move him but they wouldnt listen. i had to advocate for my child and say take the Xray and then if we need to straighten him we will. They did a scan and said 'oh no don't move him it could cause more damage.' i couldn't believe what i had heard as if i had moved him this would have been really bad. i feel they need to listen to parents more and understand that what they ask could be life changing.
Poor service and communication
Medical assessment unit
December 2, 2024
Was admitted on to sau ward on sat 30th Nov 24. Had really good service all day. Nothing was too much. By the night time staff were non existent. On the Sunday 1st was told i couldn't eat or drink as i was supposed to have ultrasounds and an mri. Had the ultrasound but nothing was mentioned about the mri. Still couldn't eat or drink. Come 17:00 still no mri and was told i could eat a low fat diet. But they had no food for me. Around 18:20 I was meant to be transferred to ward 12, I was taken there by the porter to be told my room wasn't ready. So back down to sau I go. At 22:30 I get taken back to ward 12 to be left in a space where I did not feel safe. And apparently was meant to sign a waiver because of how poor the space was. I was not comfortable to be left there, as no plug sockets so they had to unplug the bed so I could have my medication. I did not feel safe there so I got told I could go into the day room and was told I would be checked on regularly. Noone came to check on me. My partner and my dad both called to ask someone to come to me as I was suffering really bad with and anxiety attack and in pain. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I don't know why I got transferred so late at night, or why when they realised I felt unsafe, they didn't just take me back to sau. I was left alone, scared, neglected and like noone cared.
It's just the literal worst
Accident and emergency services

I couldn't count how many bad experiences I've had here. It took 3 days to be admitted with sepsis in 2018 to be told it was cold and left in a corner until my bloods came back. The amount of failures at this hospital is insane. You have paediatrians who are not referring on to specialists in a timely manner if at all. You have to wait a year for follow up appointments with your paediatric specialist too as they're so busy. You're orthopedic one was a joke who left so you got a retired McAvoy to come back for him to completely miss an obvious diagnosis for us to get re sent back to him but dropped cos he's retired again. Your secretaries don't respond to messages, don't ring back and they regularly lose patient files and referral.
GTD Healthcare should be held accountable

GTD Healthcare urgent care is serious concerns regarding patient safety, primarily due to inadequate staffing and poor communication among the team. Overall, the disorganisation and lack of support hindered our ability to provide the quality care that patients deserve.
A Teaching Hospital Teaching Bad Practices
A&E, ward 24.
October 19, 2024
It's plain to see what has gone wrong with the NHS when Royal Preston Hospital is given the responsibility as a designated 'Teaching Hospital'.
To teach bad practices because the 'teachers' have been taught bad practices, spreads like a rancid infection throughout the NHS as these 'professional' people take their knowledge and experience and make more hospitals incompetent.
I should feel safe leaving a member of my family in this Hospital, but unfortunately I'm near exploding point with the amount of times I've had to intervene and prevented my fathers death.
As a 'retainer' of CO² his oxygen was Blasting out on 5 litres when I walked into his cubicle, over oxygenated and gasping for breath as his lungs filled up with carbon dioxide. READ THE
PATIENTS NOTES.
Next he was given insulin as they thought his blood sugars was too high which is steriod induced. He
has never had insulin, this crashed him to 1.1 and went into a HYPOGLEMIC FIT where he started to rip out his cannula and ended up with skin tears on his hands as he was hallucinating thinking he was being attacked by the nurses. This was traumatic for me to witness.
this all happened in the 36 hours he was kept in the A and E.
Unfortunately he was then sent to WARD 24 from A and E for his next
beating. He was gradually but rapidly getting worse I was asking for blood tests as he deteriorated.
I was lied to by the nursing staff. He managed to tell me they not give his medications in the morning. The nurse said she placed them in his mouth one by one and he had taken
them.
They withheld his critical medication for his Asthma and COPD which is a steriod. They said he 'refused' this inhaler, is that why he was begging me to check his home for a spare to take in for him?
I have been asking for his CRP level to be checked as he displays all the warning signs for SEPSIS. I asked on Thursday afternoon Thursday night Friday morning Friday night and to no suprise the CRP was 'in process' and by Saturday morning I was told is 150 and 'we'll see what the docs want us to do'? Seriously? Get him on IV antibiotics ASAP, but no rush...
If the government will not pass this 'assisted dying' bill then I can guarantee if you walk into Preston Hospital, they will do it for you. If your over the age of 66 and end up in here, you have just saved a plane fare to Switzerland.
This Hospital does not acknowledge MARTHA'S LAW.

Maternity
September 30, 2024
We visited the birth centre at RPH to have our first baby in August 2023.
All staff on the unit were kind, caring and supportive throughout labour and showed professionalism and knowledge throughout our stay. We were fortunate enough to have a straight forward labour and delivery meaning we were able to use the birth centre and the fantastic facilities available there.

communication with patients
July 29, 2024
i went for an appointment at RPH to see a gastro specialist and i couldn't fully understand what he was saying, he spoke so quietly and i asked him if he could speak up for me. i was lip reading him and i told him what medication i am on and what medication i cant have. he told me there was a prescription waiting at the pharmacy, when i turned up they said do you know what prescription this is and i said no. they had prescribed antibiotics when i cant have them as i don't have the organs to filter them. i rang the hospital but they said if the specialist has prescribed them you need to have them.
support in place for vulnerable patients
A&E, ward 24.
July 9, 2024
i took my mother to RPH a&e a few weeks ago as she was really poorly. it wasn't appropriate for her to be sat in a waiting room with everyone else. the chairs weren't supportive enough she was vulnerable and around other people who are poorly. i feel there should be a protective space for elderly and patients with dementia.
Excellent care at Rosemere
June 24, 2024
My daughter has just received treatment at the Rosemere Centre for cancer and the main thing that I have noticed is that she is treated like a human being. They kept an eye on her throughout her treatment and made sure that she was looked after. They also kept us up to date with how things were going which was reassuring. I cant thank them enough.
