Being at Calderstones helped me to get focused and to get back to life. The staff were great and gave me one to one support. I did not like the food.

It was alright before when there were more staff. We used to be able to do more stuff - play football until it went dark. These days you can't do anything.

Staff compassion depends where you are in the hospital. Staff at Woodview were more understanding and talkative and got more involved with clients. Building is not homely, it was better at Woodview. Its easy to get appointments but staff done't communicate the appointments so I have to come out of work sometimes
Food has improved - the way that it is cooked - the portion sizes and the choice.

They're always cancelling outings cos they don't have enough staff. Good therapy and staff. Staff numbers are not controlled well. Too many staff when they don't need them and wasting money.

The food is good - sometimes I make my own food and this is enjoyable.

The staff are not very family orientated - they don't let family get involved in treatment - no letters to family. Food is poor, not seasoned, they use packaging and sometimes cold. Information received about care sometime uses big words and hard to understand - but staff very good at explaining.

Staff didn't treat me any differently to other clients - Wouldn't let me phone my bother when I needed to and I have a learning disability. The Ward Manager Julie was fantastic and she got me and where I was coming from. Val was good as well.
There were some good people in there. The building was excellent but old fashioned. It was difficult to get appointments as had to come to the main Whalley site. Food was brilliant, there was an onsite chef and she was brilliant - liked her.

It was good when I first came in as structure and boundaries were in place but since CQC came in it seems its gone a bit soft and not able to enforce boundaries. I'm have to put my own punishments in place as staff not able to anymore.
Some staff need to work on being caring but staff mainly good. Appointments can be difficult as GP is only here on Wednesday. Food can come very greasy and dry, covered in water and there's also not enough of it.
