Current projects
The role of Healthwatch Lancashire is to gather people’s experiences about health and social care services and use this feedback to inform NHS leaders and decision-makers to help influence change and shape improvements. The feedback we hear is monitored and emerging themes inform our annual work plan.
As a result, we currently have three ongoing projects and we want to hear your views.
Inside Out
We have heard a range of feedback through engagement that many people had experienced poor access to healthcare following release from prison. As a result, we are starting a project, ‘Inside Out’ to explore the continuation of healthcare for those leaving prison, and what issues people are facing when returning home or relocating following their release.
We will be holding focus groups with people who have been released from prison in the last 12 months to hear their experiences. We are also conducting case studies and individual conversations for those who do not want to attend a focus group, but still want to share their experiences.

Who can help me? Exploring the experiences of carers for people living with a neurological disorder.
This project is set to launch in April and the aim of the engagement is to understand the experiences of carers and family members who support people living with a neurological disorder.
Over the last 18 months, whilst engaging with members of the public, our engagement team have identified that there are gaps in support for carers and family members supporting people with a neurological condition including Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. This project aims to collect evidence of this lack of support, so that recommendations can be formulated to influence change and improvements for carers.
There will be an online survey launching as well as in-person engagement. Keep your eyes peeled in upcoming months!
