Ward 28 Dementia

July 27, 2015
Some of the staff were good, others did not speak English. My mum found it difficult to communicate. The food seemed fine but no-one helped her to eat it, so she did not eat. At the weekend the nurse was not working, but she gave strict instructions to the other staff for pain relief. She was unable to swallow, was partially unclothed and kicking her legs in pain, whilst the nurse was on the phone. The nurses could not find a Doctor to give the pain relief. There was no dignity for my mum, and she did not deserve it. Also she did not want to know anything about her cancer, but the weekend consultant was unaware of this, and he told her that it had spread.

Neurology

My child is in hospital in the neurology department. I am concerned with what is happening there. I think my child should be at a specialist hospital like the Walton Centre I worry that my child is going to have more leaking CFS. I think they've done the wrong operation. It started with severe sudden headaches, seizures, double vision and walking problems. My child's brain goes slightly into the spine. The Chiari Malformation Treatment has not worked. Now my child has a big lump on the neck and has also caught MRSA. I don't feel like the doctors are speaking to me and family enough about my child's treatment.

My dad was sent home without an assessment. He had a catheter. He died the day after. The day after he death the hospital rang to say he needed to come back in as an x-ray showed a chest infection and he had not been given medication for it.

I am a pensioner - I came on public transport, can't travel for free before 9.30am. costing us about £11.00 everytime we come. Used to do clinic at Chorley but moved to RPH, would prefer later appointment if possible. Travelling from Leyland.

Eye Clinic

Waiting since 10am. Got seen by a nurse about 10.30 and then seen by doctor at 11.25 and that was only for 5 mins or less. Staff not saying how long the wait would be. Last time we came we were told the appt was cancelled and we came from Blackburn.
Timing - Perhaps an indication on a board to say how long we have to wait after seeing the nurse to seen the doctor.

Ward 1 - Pre-assessment for eye (cataract)

July 9, 2015
Appt 1pm - Basic assessment before my appt on 8/6/15 lead up to the service was very poor. There was confusion that the appt had been double booked. They didn't have my notes. After lots of waiting I was been after 3pm.
Would recommend the surgery at RPH but pre-assessment administration needs to be improved. I will be coming back to have cataract done on my left eye.

Was told I would have to wait 6 months and only waited 2 months.
Waited 2 hours, I am diabetic and was offered water regularly.
It was good. Staff were excellent.

Car parking could be subsidised as I came every month from Rossendal - Have to pay parking charges every time I come. Some allowances should be made.
