Inconsistent

August 31, 2016
One group member commented how her father is receiving inconsistencies in care
from the Ansdell Medical Centre. The dedicated GP is off sick and as a result was
referred to a One-Stop Clinic for the elderly. The experience of using this was poor and
it resulted in losing blood tests results, which was frustrating. When her father
returned to the surgery he was seen by a different doctor every time who gave
contradicting information.

Administration

August 31, 2016
A member of the public contacted Healthwatch Lancashire by phone. They said that
they experienced issues with the Ansdell Medical Centre surgery in relation to a
refusal to add dates to letters sent by the practice. Their relative has complex care
issues and gets a lot of letters and said it is frustrating when these do not get dated so
they can see the order they have been received in or how recent the letter is. They
said that the frustration for this resulted in their relative becoming agitated and
receiving a warning letter which also was not dated. They said their relative is sorry for
their behaviour but this was due to frustration.

Booking appointments

One group member commented that appointments at Ansdell Medical Centre in
Lytham St Annes are hard to get. The telephone system is not good and needs to be
looked at.

Failed to keep promises or treat me.

August 30, 2016
I went to Ansdell Medical Centre to seek treatment for a severe depressive relapse. I have been on several medications which either don't help, or have unhelpful side effects. On my first visit I was sent away with no action taken at all. On my second visit, 2 weeks later, I was signed unfit for three weeks, and a referral was sent for CBT Counselling (which I'd said I didn't want, having done it several times before), as well as a medication review. That Doctor then left the surgery, and my referral for medication review was ignored for 3 weeks. I returned to the surgery on the 4th week seeking an update - the next Doctor couldn't find one, and sent me away for a further 4 weeks unfit, untreated, unmedicated. I received a call from the referrals team about the counselling, however they advised that they'd written to the surgery with the medication advice and would do so again. I returned to the surgery today, to be told that they still hadn't acted on the letter, and that I had to wait a further week untreated, with my date to return to work set for the Monday after. To say I am feeling sick, neglected and betrayed would be an understatement.

I have been waiting since April 2014 for the epidural, and was referred to a Mr Khatro (Preston). So far I have been given appointments. Seen only physiotherapists for assessment and a MRI scan (Chorley) My condition is well documented over many years, therefore a straight referral to a consultant as in the past would have sufficed, cutting out physios.
