Shameful
February 5, 2025
I attended the walk in centre because of a worsening UTI where my current antibiotics don’t seem to be working. I had been seen by a PA at my GP surgery who closed for training day and was advised to attend out of hours if my condition worsened. As I am over 65 I can’t be seen by pharmacist and I have a very long history of UTIs.
So when I attended the WIC at 6.30 pm worried I may be de eloping sepsis as I was feeling very ill I did not appreciate the first question being why did I not go to my GP when i was asking for help, I also do not want to hear the nurse complaining about not being able to log into the system to see my test results as though it was my fault.
Basic equipment like a bp cuff had to be sourced from another room as my arm was too big
After waiting for 2 hours to be seen and after she logged into the system I informed her that I had a very long history of UTIs and the last urine sample showed klebsiella P and I’m now resistant to multiple abx we discussed augmentin as it showed sensitivity to it and cephalexin is not working, she said if she couldn’t log onto the system I would have to see my GP which was mentioned on numerous occasions in the morning at 8, she gave me co amoxiclav which I’ve had before and did not work on collection of px therefore the appointment appears a waste of time.
My advice is to not immediately attack sick patients by interrogating them as to why they did not go to their GP when it was out of hours and it is notoriously difficult anyway.
I used to have the upmost confidence in Fleetwood WIC however I will no longer attend there as I was made to feel like useless nuisance.
Thank you for making an already unpleasant experience worse and shame on those who think that that kind of service can call itself a caring profession

I brought my 8 year old little boy in on the 4th nov 2024 as he was sick and yellow , he projectile vomited all over the floor and began to shake. the receptopnist Jennifer was a help and asked us if we are ok, I asked her how long as we were sat on the steps as no chairs available, she was helpful however she was the only helpful person to us, after 45 mins my son began so shake and be sick , Jennifer insisted a nurse come see us as I was crying at this point, the nurse, ignoring the fact my son was clearly yellow and falling asleep said because his vitals were ok he had to wait, he had a temperature however she said not high enough to jump the queue! I left immediately, not prepared to let him sit on a step being sick any longer ? the lack of empathy was unbelievable, I wanted to phone 999 which makes no sense as I ws surrounded by people who could help yet no one did ! except the receptionist (thank you Jennifer) I'm so upset with how he was treated by a medical professional ?
Happy with my treatment. Thank you

doctors behaviour and attitude was shocking

I brought my daughter in today as she has been feeling unwell , she needed her throat and tonsils checked as i suspected an infection due to white spots and swelling, along with other symptoms. the doctor did a quick flash of the torch and said she was fine, i asked if he could do a real examination as that wasn't good enough. he then proceeded to laugh and asked if i wanted another doctor, i said no i want you to do your job and check my daughter properly as that isn't an examination. He then sat back in his chair with a smug smile and said to me " are you a doctor are you a nurse...... because if you was i would then listen to your opinion. I was furious at this comment !! i then went on to tell him it doesn't matter what i am qualified to do in my career i am telling you that this is not an examination, and she needed to be looked at properly. he then checked her oxygen and temp, did not check her glands ! and then thoroughly checked her throat like he should of to begin with . which is when he found white spots on her tonsils to show infection is there and needed antibiotics prescribed ! This doctors attitude was absolutely disgusting and i have never felt more patronised in all my life. My other daughter suffers greatly with her tonsils and i know what to look for . and to be told he will only take me seriously if i am a doctor or a nurse is diabolical. I am utterly shocked at the service we received today. And this so called doctor was soon quite when he had to prescribe antibiotics trying to cover his tracks and pretending like he knew what he was talking about. there was not one apology for the way he treat me and my daughter !
Rude receptionist! Complaint.

We arrived at Fleetwood Health Centre for a 1 pm wound check appointment, followed by a 1:30 pm blood test. Upon arrival, the receptionist directed us to go upstairs for the wound check and then return downstairs for the blood test.
The wound check proceeded smoothly, and we returned downstairs as instructed, arriving 10 minutes early for the blood test. However, after waiting for 15 minutes beyond our scheduled time without being called, I approached the receptionist to inquire about the delay. She was unable to locate the appointment in the system but asked us to take a seat, assuring us that someone would attend to us shortly.
After an additional 15 minutes of waiting (now 30 minutes past our appointment time), I approached the reception again. The receptionist who had initially checked us in was extremely rude, claiming that she had instructed us to check in again after the wound appointment. Both my husband and I confirmed that no such instruction was given, but she argued with me publicly in front of other patients, which I found very dismissive and unprofessional. She then told us we would be called in when they were "ready for us," which is not the attitude I expect from healthcare professionals.
Eventually, we were called in 55 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, which was unacceptable. My husband had only been discharged from the hospital four days earlier following an emergency lower bowel resection, and this extended wait was not in his best interest.
I would like this complaint to be thoroughly investigated, and I request that the receptionist in question be spoken to about her conduct.

Doctors and nursing staff are second to none

My experience at Fleetwood walk in urgent treatment centre. The only thing ruining the visit is that miserable receptionist! She never smiles or even looks like she wants to be there! It's disgraceful having staff at first port of call who don't even greet you with a smile! She didn't tell 4 of us to use the new tablet system either!! So I was there at 7.45 and wasn't seen first because other people knew the new system!! My stars are only based on her attitude alone and not nursing staff, they deserve 100%.
