communication with carers

i went to my GP a few months ago to register as a carer and they didnt know why i was telling them this. i asked to speak with the manager and they didnt seem to know either. i was told to register at my GP as a carer so they were aware but they seemed oblivious to why i was telling them this, but surely they need to know this information?

The GP’s and staff cannot do enough to help make your experience easier and provide a positive outcome. The menopause clinic in particular has changed my life completely, the only regret is not finding Dr Craven sooner! The whole surgery work together and it shows, nothing is too much trouble and you always come away feeling listened to and with a plan in place if one is needed.

Unhelpful.offhand reception / admin. staff , doctor uncaring, unhelpful and dismissive. I expected prescription for the anxiety and sleeplessness I was suffering but came away empty - handed. I hadn't seen the G.P. for 7 years. Waited 1/4 hour for the pharmacy to open , then was told I'd have to wait another half hour. So I just walked out.
Excellent from start to finish

Had a mole removed from my neck. Dr Craven and HCA were professional throughout. An excellent job.
Offered blood test for prostate

Lostock Hall Medical Centre offered me a prostate blood test which I excepted and because of the blood test it was found I had prostate cancer and I’m pleased to say after treatment I am now clear and but for Lostock Hall Medical Centre offering me the prostate screening blood tests it would never have been found and who knows what the outcome could have been

Visited Dr [name redacted for privacy] for a menopause review and mentioned how much pain I was in with my hip as part of her consultation questions and this has been stopping me moving around and getting on with life.This was having a knock on effect with menopausal symptoms .During the appointment she asked a visiting physiotherapist working out of the surgery to give his opinion. Phil examined me that morning and made referrals for scan and X-ray . These came through and on 15th October he was able to refer me to a surgeon due to the results of the X-ray and by 30th October I has been seen by an orthopaedic surgeon who has recommended a total hip replacement early next year. This will enable me to undertake more walking once recovered and keep on top of my weight and well-being without constant pain . Such a relief to be listened to and treated with respect
Welcoming atmosphere

The receptionist welcomed me, talked through the things I needed to do & complete prior to my appt. She was also extremely helpful after my appt in arranging further appts & talking through sample procedures with me. My appt was with [name redacted for privacy] who was simply fantastic, she didn't rush me at all, on fact she really took the time to talk through all options enabling me to make an informed choice! She sent me a number of resources to look at in my own time. I left the surgery informed and literally feeling lighter just for having been listened to. I cannot recommend enough for menopause support...her knowledge, approach and empathy are outstanding!

Both medical staff and support staff have all be so helpful, kind and caring. Every time I have spoken to someone they have been so helpful and not just dismissive. They really do want to help you which is a breath of fresh air. There are a lot of GP practices that could take a leaf out of this practice’s book!!

I found when I really needed to be seen by a doctor they got me an appointment for later that same day. This meant I was referred to the hospital the same day and dealt with much quicker.
