translation problems

May 16, 2024
I asked if they could provide me with a translator and they told me that they don’t have translation services at the GP and I would have to provide my own for appointments. Surely they should be providing language line or some support for those who don't speak English.

Physio communication

May 16, 2024
was having regular physiotherapy and then one session they were told they couldn’t do it anymore and to ring this number. I called the number and it was for a private physio which I couldn’t afford so I had to stop it, but I got no explanation as to why it had been stopped.

Thank you for the comments you have provided regarding physiotherapy services.

The practice has to refer for all its physiotherapy services and does not provide this at practice level, Patients can self refer to NHS physiotherapy from the link below: https://www.ascenti.co.uk/form/self-referral or alternatively please contact the practice secretarial team who may be able to provide some further advice and support

prescription problems

i tried to call for my prescription last week and i was on hold for 40 minutes just to get a repeat prescription. They know i am not good with technology so i cant order through the app but 40 minutes is crazy.

Thank you for the feedback.

The prescription line takes an inordinate amount of calls particularly first thing in a morning and it is appreciated how frustrating the wait on the telephone can be. The aim of the prescription team is to encourage those able to use the NHS app or order repeat medication to allow more time for patients who need additional support to speak to a member of the team.

Please contact us and speak to the team as there are other options to support you in ordering medication.

i used to attend Geoffrey street health centre and the doctors there were amazing you used to go in and they looked at you as a whole. We got transferred to Park View Medical and now i feel the doctors don't have time for you. if i have two problems they wont deal with it and its hard to get to the medical practice so i dont understand why they cant see you for two things there and then.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback

The Park Medical Practice assumed responsibility for Geoffrey Street Health Centre when a single handed GP retired. The practice now provides a range of clinical services and provide access to phlebotomy / GP assistants / practices nurses / Paediatric advanced nurse practitioners / podiatrist of whom support the regular GP's.

In respect of appointments GP slots are of 10 minute intervals and therefore it is often difficult for them to deal with more than one problem comprehensively during this allotted time. Please accept our apologies if this was not communicated to you when you booked the appointment.

travel is difficult

April 23, 2024
we lost our gp when Geoffrey street medical practice had no doctors. we weren't told as patients that we had to move and we only found out when we had to make an appointment. No letter or explanation we were just told there were no doctors and you now have to move to park medical. well this is quite some distance and not as easy for us to get to.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the branch site.
Both Cottam Lane Surgery and our branch sites have always been staffed with a range of clinical and non-clinical staff; during COVID access to the sites was restricted with certain locations providing specific safe and secure functions.
All patients can access services across all sites however specialist clinics have only ever been provided at Cottam lane for example travel health / Spirometry / complex women's health.
It would be helpful for the practice to understand the barriers to accessing the services and the problems that you have encountered , the reception manager would welcome the opportunity to explore these with you.

i got a text saying please ring today as you need to book in for a blood pressure check, i rang as soon as i received the text. i was 16th in the queue and when they did answer they said they had no appointments and to ring back tomorrow. i didnt think this was a routine appointment and thought this was separate to a normal ring in the morning appointment.

Thank you for your comments.
Blood pressure assessment can be undertaking via an appointment with the health care assistant or by utilising the blood pressure machine in the waiting rooms at both practice sites. There is no need to book an appointment for the use of the machine. Blood pressure reviews are usually a routine appointment should there have been a need to see you urgently this would have been communicated in the text message. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience and care co-coordinators will be reminded of the options for blood pressure monitoring.
To support training and education if you were agreeable to providing your contact telephone number we could review the telephone call and provide appropriate training and advice to the care co-coordinator. Please contact the reception manager at the practice who can facilitate this.

Receptionist was rude, never got an appointment, told that there was a waiting list - 21 days. Had to move as I've had enough.
