My feedback is based purely on the facilities
My feedback is purely based on the facilities within the women’s unit (delivery suite, neo natal and ward 17). I would NOT recommend nor will I be choosing to give birth at Lancaster in the future. The conditions the staff are expected to work in for such demanding work is an insult. The staff are supportive, helpful and intuitive and if they were given the facilities to perform their job even better, I believe Lancaster would be a first choice for anyone’s birth. The unit REQUIRES air conditioning - I spent 5 days in a room hitting 30 degrees with a new born baby. The rooms need to be bigger to allow better care and for better care to be given. Beds should be provided for partners/birthing partners - in my scenario I was recovering from a C-section which meant I relied on my partner to help me AND the baby but I was the one being looked after by the unit with food, bed and toilet facilities. If my feedback was in relation to recommending the staff and attention given by them it would 5 but I think for action to be taken this feedback requires the honesty I have given.
