Poor Ambulance Transport Criteria System
I live alone and am 86 years of age. I am asthmatic and diabetic. My family live away from me. I attend Royal Blackburn Hospital every 6 months for a one night stay. I do not think it is sensible to make me go through the disability criteria every time I phone up for the ambulance transport. I feel that since I am 86 years old, if I was eligible one time, my age must show that I am unlikely to become well enough to make it to the hospital by myself. Having said that, I have always been offered an ambulance once I have passed the criteria, but the last time, I was told that that I am not eligible; although after persuasion I was given it. I do not want or think I should have to go through this every 6 months. It also increases anxiety about going into hospital.
