Staff are good if you can get an appointment

This surgery is really good but you just cant get that initial appointment. I rang to book an appointment and was told it would be 3 weeks later, well how do i know if ill still be ill in three weeks. I ended up going to the walk in centre at Chorley and was seen in 45 minutes. its so bad that patients are using walk in centres because they cant get into their doctors. The amount of pressure on the NHS is caused by appointments not being available to patients.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding our surgery as we do strive to continue to improve our services for our patients. Sadly the patient demand for appointments exceeds clinical capacity available with the funding and resources made available to us. When clinical capacity has been reached under safe working guidelines our patients are safely signposted to alternative healthcare providers. All patient requests are triaged by a clinical member of our team and where appropriate signposted to other members of our healthcare team as not all requests require to be seen by a GP. Our team of healthcare professionals include prescribing pharmacists, medicines co-ordinators, advance nurse practitioners, mental health practitioner, first contact physiotherapist, paramedic, nurse associates, GP assistants and clinical care co-ordinators and patient requests may be signposted to an appointment with one of our team. Please do come in and speak to our Patient Services Lead if you are having specific difficulty in accessing our triage forms or are having difficult getting through on the telephone as we do have a call back function to help. A group member said they could not get an appointment with a GP at Longton Health Centre. The group member was unhappy that they are required to give the receptionist details of their medical complaint and then receptionist decides the next course of action.

Long wait for appointments

Very long wait for appointments - difficult to get one in first place. It takes 30 minutes to get through on the phone and then you are waiting hours in the waiting room. Car park extremely busy, I had to drive around and around waiting for a space. Improve the appointment system.

Difficult to get an appointment

It is extremely difficult to get an appointment - told that the only appointment available requires me to come to the centre and sit and wait. You can be waiting for hours alongside very ill people which I dont want to do! Appointment booking system always changing which puts me off coming. Actual treatment very good. Car park could be improved, it is very small and flooded.
