Library House Surgery

Repeatedly Unsatisfactory

On more than one occasion over the last few months the reception staff have been repeatedly rude/short with both me and members of my family, over the phone and in person. My mother was being treated at this surgery for depression and she called to acquire a sick note for work, the attitude and pure rudeness of the member of reception staff she spoke to on the phone left her in tears and seriously knocked her confidence in this practice's services. I have never managed to get an appointment in less than 8 days. After waiting 9 days to get an appointment for this week I turned up, waited for over half an hour to then be told that my doctor wasn't coming in for the day (no other explanation given) and that I would have to wait three more days for a new appointment. One week prior to this I went in on Wednesday to put in my repeat prescription for my long term medication, we are asked to leave 48 hours before collecting, I called in on Friday afternoon and was told it still wasn't ready, a member of my family called back on Saturday and it still wasn't ready. We were supplied with a supposed emergency contact number that would allow me to get my prescription that day, I called the number and was told that someone would have to ring me back, they never did. By this point I had run out of my medication. A member of my family went back to the surgery on Monday evening and was told that the prescription had been sent electronically to the pharmacy (despite the fact no one from the surgery or the pharmacy had ever informed us that this was going to happen). We then had to rush to the pharmacy before closing and the pharmacist kindly agreed to stay open past closing time to help me get my prescription. In fairness one of the doctors I have seen at this surgery was understanding, but the other prescribed me the wrong dosage of my regular medication. I told this doctor that my dosage was something around 200 micro grams and instead of checking my medical history that he had on the screen in front of him he just prescribed me 200, which was a lower dosage. When I rang the surgery to rectify the problem I had to wait nearly 2 days for a phone call back telling me that because my usual dosage was sometimes difficult for the pharmacy to get hold of so I should just stay on the lower dosage, this affected my health for the next few weeks until I saw another doctor who prescribed me the right dosage. She also informed me that it wasn't up to the original doctor to make that decision on behalf of me and the pharmacist, something I agree with strongly. I am really trying hard to persevere with this surgery and the last few times the staff have been a lot better but then something happens like this and I just find it unacceptable.
