The new system for dementia patients in A&E

I took my relative to A&E a few weeks ago and because they have dementia, the reception staff told me they had put a clip on their board so they are not waiting as long which I think is a great idea. Unfortunately this was not the case and we were sat for hours waiting and everyone who came in before us was seen before us. I don't understand the purpose of the dementia clip if it doesn't do anything. My relative can not sit in A&E for hours without becoming distressed and this is exactly what happened. Once they were seen the doctors were lovely.
