From Innovation to Inclusion, Virtual Wards

Healthwatch Lancashire conducted a research project on Virtual Wards which have expanded rapidly since becoming a priority for NHS England (NHSE) in 2022.

These services allow patients with acute conditions to receive hospital-level care in their own homes – including care homes – who would otherwise be in hospital as an inpatient.

This report details our key findings, barriers and inequalities and recommendations for the future.
