Discussion on the Pan-Lancashire draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022

July 4, 2022

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) is a full assessment of the local population’s current and future pharmaceutical needs.

There are several health and wellbeing boards, including Blackburn with Darwin and Blackpool and Lancashire, that has the statutory responsibility of publishing a PNA once every three years. This is under the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013.

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment explains the current provisions of pharmaceutical services across the pan-Lancashire area as well as looking at whether this is currently meeting the needs of the area and will it continue to do it in the future.

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment is key for NHS England in informing their decisions regarding new or changes to existing pharmaceutical services. Furthermore, it supports making decisions in commissioning additional services required from pharmacies.

Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool and Lancashire health and wellbeing boards are keen to hear your views on the document. Please email your feedback to: haveyoursay@lancashire.gov.uk

The consultation will take place from Friday 1 July 2022 to Thursday 1 September 2022.
