Healthier Lancashire & South Cumbria is responsible for the Sustainability and Transformation Plan for health and care across our region and is one of 44 national ‘footprints’.

Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria’s vision is to provide better health, better patient care and improved NHS efficiency.

Healthier Lancashire & South Cumbria represents:

  • 33 NHS and local council organisations
  • Third sector partners
  • Local Development Plans across five areas: Central Lancashire, West Lancashire, Pennine Lancashire, Fylde Coast and the Bay Health & Care Partners.

Health and care organisations are working together with a clear sense of common purpose and urgency around the need for change.

What is this invitation about?

The Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria Sustainability and Transformation Plan has been published and can be viewed at http://www.lancashiresouthcumbria.org.uk/.

However, they are very aware that there is much to be done to share this draft plan to help people in our communities understand its purpose moving forward and why there is a real need for change.

To date, there has been engagement around the need to change and what people feel are the key priorities within the five local areas. All of this insight has been fed into the development of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan but now there is a need to shape this very technical document into one which really means something to people across the region. People need to understand what it may mean to them and get involved in shaping these plans as they continue to be developed.

This is where we need your help!

How can you help?

We would like you to be involved in a workshop, lasting about 2 hours, where you can feed in your views. At the workshop, we will discuss your views on the Sustainability and Transformation Plan and how you feel people should be involved.

Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria will also be on hand to share with you some ideas of how they would like to communicate these to people, to sense-check these with you and to shape these ideas using your feedback.

However, they are not yet at a place to discuss any of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan proposals, as those have not yet been formed.

The document lays out their key priorities and they will be working with the Local Development Plans to make sure that local people and health and social care staff are involved in shaping the proposals.

To make all that happen, they need clear and accessible documents and materials showing how and why people should get involved.

Your involvement during this workshop will help to make this a reality.

When and where are these workshops?

Five workshops are being hosted by your local Healthwatch and are being run by an independent organisation called Participate (www.participate.uk.com).
