So what? Healthwatch Lancashire and Healthwatch Blackpool highlight the impact of their work

Healthwatch Lancashire and Healthwatch Blackpool have published a new report that shows how the voice of the public makes a difference to health and social care services, influences change and creates improvement.

The ‘So What?’ report presents information collected by local Healthwatch and highlights trends and themes from feedback through its projects.

The report also highlights the work of Healthwatch Lancashire and Healthwatch Blackpool through speaking with over 3,600 people across 115 different health and social care services and publishing 82 reports.

Examples of how the service user voice has made a difference include:

  • An East Lancashire care home ordered new uniforms with embroidered names to enable residents to more easily identify with those people who cared for them.
  • A GP surgery started recruited additional staff to support the booking of appointments.
  • A community hospital created 40 new parking spaces.
  • An urgent care centre ordered a new waiting room TV to better display their waiting times.
