Hospitals in Lancashire are shortlisted for Patient Safety Awards

Three hospital trusts from Lancashire have been recognised in the national Patient Safety Awards 2015.

The Patient Safety Awards aims to transform the UK’s approach to delivering high quality care. It champions patient safety as the organising principle of a healthcare ecosystem which is truly efficient, effective and able to offer the best experience to patients and carers. It claims to be the only event to combine industry-leading examples of patient safety best practice and innovation, with the business case for safety.

Hospital Trusts within Lancashire which have been nominated for an award this year are:

  • East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust – Dementia Care Award
  • Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust – End of Life Care Award
  • Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust – Patient Safety in Care of Older People Award

Gill Brown, Healthwatch Lancashire Chief Executive commented, “It is great to see three of Lancashire’s hospital trusts being recognised in these awards and I wish them success in winning their respective awards.”

“It is important that we take the time to recognise where care has been of a high standard within Lancashire and to share best practice to ensure that all people in Lancashire are able to access the care that they want and deserve.”

This year Health Service Journal and Nursing Times have taken over the event, providing an opportunity to bring together practitioners and policy makers, joining the audiences of the Congress with the Patient Safety Awards for the first time ever. The Patient Safety Awards will be announced in a ceremony on 6th and 7th July in Birmingham.
