Healthwatch Lancashire speak to service users at Morecambe Dental Access Centre
Healthwatch Lancashire has published a ‘Patient Engagement Day’ report, which captures the experiences of service users at Morecambe Dental Access Centre.
Following Healthwatch Lancashire’s visit to Morecambe Dental Access Centre, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who provide the service, have responded to a report with a number of actions to improve the experiences of their patients.
On the 18th May 2016, three Healthwatch Lancashire representatives gathered survey responses from 39 patients and relatives to obtain the views of people using the service and to observe the environment.
The results of the report show that 95% of service users who shared their views said that they were happy using the service and all the respondents said that the service is open at convenient times.
Healthwatch Lancashire’s findings did highlight a number of areas for concern such as a lack of seating in the waiting area and inconsistencies in patients’ waiting time for appointments.
The report includes a list of five actions provided by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in relation to how they will improve service users’ experiences following the activity.
