Six volunteers have completed training which allows them to participate in Healthwatch Lancashire ‘Enter and View’ visits, with the support of staff, across Lancashire.

Healthwatch Lancashire’s extensive programme of ‘Enter and View’ visits, which encourage, support and influence service improvement, has seen 30 reports published in the last 12 months.

‘Enter and View’ is the opportunity for Healthwatch Lancashire’s authorised representatives to go into health and social care facilities to collect views of patients, residents and relatives and observe the nature and quality of services.

Sheralee Turner-Birchall, Chief Officer at Healthwatch Lancashire, delivered the training and commented: “Our volunteers make a huge contribution by taking part in Healthwatch Lancashire’s activities and it is important they receive the knowledge and support so that they are able to help us in carrying out our extensive programme of ‘Enter and View’ visits.”

“The support from volunteers will allow us to develop our ‘Enter and View’ visits which are an opportunity to speak to health and social care services to deliver an excellent service for people in Lancashire.”

All Healthwatch Lancashire volunteers undertake relevant training and advanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

Healthwatch Lancashire’s active group of volunteers are local people, who help to enable the people of Lancashire to influence change and improve the quality of health and social care services. There is currently a team of 40 members of the public from across Lancashire with a breadth of knowledge and skills who give up their time to volunteer for Healthwatch Lancashire.
