CQC set to inspect University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust
The Care Quality Commission will be inspecting University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust from 11 October 2016.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent health and adult social care regulator. Their job is to check whether hospitals, care homes, GPs, dentists and services in your home are meeting national standards.
In October 2016 their inspectors will be undertaking a focused follow-up inspection of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay, which means that they will look at areas of concern identified during their last inspection. They have stated that they will be returning to the three main hospital sites to inspect all core services.
Healthwatch Lancashire’s intelligence captured since July 2015 will contribute to their inspection including reports from speaking to people about their access to services, experiences of outpatients and visits to specific wards such as the Lancaster Suite.
In the CQC’s last inspection University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay was rated as requires improvement. You can read the report from their last inspection here, which took place in July 2015
The CQC state that the feedback people gave them about their experiences of care before the last inspection was important and helped them to decide what to look at during our inspection.
